Stephen M. Wood, Ph.D.

President & Chief Executive Officer

Stephen M. Wood, Ph.D., has served as President and CEO of FiberVisions since 2006. He is also on the Board of Directors of Neenah Paper Inc., a leading North American fine and technical paper company. From 2001 to 2004, Dr. Wood served as CEO of Kraton Polymers, a specialties chemical company, and as Chairman and Representative Director of JSR Kraton Elastomers, a Japanese joint venture company. In 2004, he served as Vice Chairman, advising the Kraton Board of Directors. Prior to his CEO role in Kraton Polymers, Dr. Wood was President of the Global Elastomers business unit of Shell Chemicals Ltd. He was also International President of the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers. He has a B.S. in chemistry and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Nottingham University, United Kingdom, and is a graduate of the Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Gary Spitz

Chief Financial Officer

Gary Spitz has been CFO of FiberVisions since 2006. Prior to joining the company, he was the interim CFO of Compression Polymers. During 2001–04, he served as CFO of Kraton Polymers. Both Compression Polymers and Kraton Polymers were owned by private equity firms during his tenure, and were successfully managed under highly leveraged circumstances. Prior to Kraton, he was CFO of Sterling Chemical Company from 1997 to 2001. Mr. Spitz was with W.R. Grace & Company from 1979 to 1997, where he served in a number of financial positions and ultimately became CFO of its Grace Davison Division. He has an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in biology from the University of Vermont.

Tom Zaiser

President and General Manager, ES FiberVisions

Tom J. Zaiser is President and General Manager of ESFV. During 1990-92 he was the Marketing Manager of Aqualon, a wholly owned division of Hercules Incorporated. After that, he became Regional Sales Manager of the Southeastern U.S. for the Pulp & Paper Division of Hercules. From 1996 to 1999, he was Corporate Account Manager within that division and then became Director, Global Corporate Accounts for the Hercules Pulp & Paper Chemicals Division. In 2005 he moved into his present role with ESFV. Mr. Zaiser holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware.

Karena Cancilleri

Director, Hygiene Products


Karena Cancilleri has been the Global Hygiene Director of FiberVisions since joining the firm in 2007. She began her career in 1992 with Shell Chemicals as a Sales Manager for the Italian market. During her tenure, she was Key Account Manager for Thermoplastic Elastomers in Compounding with Shell’s German operations and Global Business Development Manager for Thermoplastic Elastomers in Bitumen Modification. From 2000 to 2003 Mrs. Cancilleri managed the EU Compounding business at Kraton Polymers, where she became the first Master Black Belt for Growth. In 2005-06 she was Business Manager for Kraton’s Personal Hygiene and Compounding business. Mrs. Cancilleri has an M.B.A. from Strathclyde Graduate Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Turin, Italy.

Paul McMichael

Director, Geotextiles / Procurement

Paul McMichael has been the Director of Global Procurement and the Geotextile business unit at FiberVisions since 2007. He began his career with the firm in 1998 as U.S. Materials Manager. In 2002 he became Global Procurement Manager, which included an expanded role in managing energy-related purchases for Hercules’ U.S. operations. Prior to his current role at FiberVisions, Mr. McMichael became Sales Manager for Geotextiles in 2004. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in finance from Georgia State University.

Prashant Desai, Ph.D.

Director, Business Technology

Prashant Desai, Ph.D., has served as Director of Business Technology at FiberVisions since 2005. Previously he was Senior Research Fellow and Global Programs Manager for the firm’s Textiles/Industrials business unit. Prior to joining FiberVisions in 1998 as a research scientist, Dr. Desai was a faculty member at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1988 to 1998. He was an Associate Professor in the College of Engineering, where he had a primary appointment in the School of Textile and Fiber Engineering and an adjunct appointment in the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Dr. Desai has a Ph.D. in polymer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Geoffrey E. Meyer

General Counsel

Geoffrey E. Meyer has served as General Counsel of FiberVisions since its inception in 1997. Previously, he was Chief Counsel, International Law, with Hercules Incorporated. In his earlier roles at Hercules, he was legal counsel in various functional and business units including engineering, environmental affairs, aerospace, advanced materials, film and fibers. Mr. Meyer was in private practice for seven years prior to joining Hercules in 1981. He holds a B.A. from Michigan State University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the Delaware State Bar Association and formerly of the American Bar Association and the American Corporate Counsel Association.

Jim Pepper

Business Director, Industrial/Textiles

Jim Pepper is Director of the Industrial/Textile business unit at FiberVisions. He began as Operations Director in 1998 and was promoted in 2000 to General Manager for Hygiene/Textiles for the Americas. Previously, Mr. Pepper worked at Guilford Mills, BASF Corporation and Celanese Corporation. He holds an M.S. and B.S. in textiles from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Garret Davies

Director, Strategy & Business Development

Garret Davies is the Vice President for Strategy and Business Development. He joined FiberVisions in 2007. Previously he was the Vice President Americas for Kraton Polymers and had held a variety of management positions in Shell Chemical Company, after starting his business career as an Associate with McKinsey & Company. Mr. Davies has an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
